Yes I know... it has been a week since my last post. I have
been sick, really. But I'm back and here's what I am doing today. My path begins with 'Writing The Life Poetic', by Sage Cohen. This
is my compass for getting out of my head, facing fear of not doing what I
say-again, and building my skills.
Chapter 4 Show vs. Tell The
Art of the Image: How often do we hear this? This comes up at the
writing group, often. After
much discussion, it normally ends with someone making the comment, "But
there are times when you want the writer to just tell it," or "Too
much description, just tell it, please!" So, is there a balance for
show vs. tell? Showing gives a fresh, new image. Telling is, well,
telling... right? I hope to apply this to my own writing.
Currently, there are two poems that I hope will be published this Winter.
I will not post those poems on this blog but will save my final comment on
this subject when I reach that goal.
